The whirlwind pace of today’s rock’n’roll continues to be reflected in this month’ magazine with reports of events big and small but we’ve taken time to reflect on two stars who’ve left us recently. I first met Sleepy LaBeef at Pakefield and he was a warm and friendly fellow who had time for me and a lot of others despite having just finished a long demanding set. Rudy ‘Tutti’ Grayzell was new to me prior to a show at Hemsby, but after a late-night/early morning introduction from Willie Jeffery, Rudy blew me away for the next two hours with his energy and enthusiasm, as much of a dynamo offstage as on. Characters like Sleepy and Rudy will be missed, but we look forward to what new blood appears in 2020. ‘Rock On’ Johnny Hop
